Bornean Families
Leptobrachella:
hamidi
White-bellied Slender Litter Frog
Leptobrachella hamidi resembles L. marmorata and L. picta, but is distributed in southcentral and eastern Sarawak and neighboring areas of central Kalimantan. The three species are similar with respect to color pattern. Type locality of L. hamidi is Bukit Lanjak, division Sri Aman, Sarawak, Malaysia, 250 m a.s.l.
The species share well defined black spots with light edges on upper side. Chest and abdomen (belly) without large dark markings. The hind limbs are relatively short: the tibiotarsal articulation (heel) reaches to the level of between nostril and tip of snout when the leg is gently adpressed. However, L. marmorata differs from L. hamidi by larger size and and presence of discrete dark spots posterior to sacrum (i.e. between end of sacrum bone and cloaka).
Males are in the range of 28-31 mm, females 36-41 mm snout-vent length according to the original description. L. hamidi has been reported from hilly but low terrain.
Details about the reproductive biology and tadpoles are unknown, but are expected to be similar to other species in the genus. See L. gracilis, for example. As with so many other Bornean species, the basic ecology of this species is also unkown.
