Rhacophorus borneensis

Rhacophorus borneensis is one of the prettiest frogs of Borneo, but rarely seen due to its life high up in the canopy. It used to be known as R. reinwardtii, but has recently been separated from that species. It descends only to breed in permanent forest ponds. 

The species is said to be an inhabitant of primary forest. However, we have also found it species in secondary or distrubed forest. 

The call is a low chuckle; some might say, resembling a woodpecker.

Note the ventral shot of the juvenile: In metamorphs the adult color pattern has not developed in full yet. The belly is off-white instead of yellow.
