Ansonia vidua

Widow Slender Toad

DSCF5057 2

Ansonia vidua is a highland stream toad. It has been recorded exclusively from Gunung Murud. Males are still unknown (named widow because of that and the black color).

Adult females 34 mm snout-vent length. Conspicuous characteristics of this species are the finely warted, black skin and long fingers and toes.

Ansonia vidua tadpoles are unkown. The ecology is unknown. The species has been encountered at night when perching on low vegetation near streams in undisturbed montane mossy forest.
